“BUSH lies†doesn’t cut it anymore. It’s time to confront the darker reality that we are lying to ourselves.
With these words Frank Rich starts his powerful editorial in today's New York Times.
Finally some Americans are starting to wake up of the slumber. It's not just Bush Lied and Rumsfeld's to blame. Every Joe Public is to blame. It's their fault that this mess of Gestapo tactics is allowed to continue year after year, shielded by a wall of semantics. And it's not just the American Joe Public. Many EU countries, including Denmark, also has troops in Iraq, allows rendition flights over it's territory. We're all to blame for not taking this seriously enough, to letting ourselves be lulled to sleep.

Wow... finally we get an American paper speaking up... Even though it is probably preaching to the choir, since I would imagine a lot of New York Times readers already realised these things. But still some affirmation and acknowledgement of their feelings and beliefs is good.
