Italy defender Marco Materazzi finally disclosed what he said to Zinedine Zidane in the World Cup final that provoked the French star to retaliate with a head-butt.
"I prefer the whore that is your sister," Materazzi wrote in his yet-to-be-released autobiography, according to Italian news reports Saturday.

Er hetta nýggjheitir?
Eg haldi at tað er bara ein roynd at pletta eina góða karrieru hjá einum góðum fótboltsleikara. Tað skuldi verið Materazzi, sum bleiv hongdur út fyri sovritt.

It's something just about everyone was talking about a year ago, so I thought those people might be interested in knowing what provoked Zidane's reaction.
By the way, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Who should be hung out for what?

In light of this shocking disclosure, I propose an addendum to the fairplay rules.
"It is strongly forbidden to intentionally injure another player, unless that player calls your sister a whore, in which case you should proceed to headbutt him in the chest"
btw when do we get instant audio playback from the pitch? we have everything else.

uhm... kanska eitt sindur øvugt at geva hinum skyldina fyri vold, men eg haldi at man skuldi havt víst Zidane eitt sindur av sympati á vøllinum... Eg skilji væl hansara reaktión og eg rokni eisini við at teir allar, allar flestur høvdu reagera uppá handan mátan, minst.

Well there might be more to this story on how this comment set him off so much. It's been widely reported that Zidanes wife had an affair with Filippo Inzaghi, some Italian sports journalists speculated that it was that which Materazzi commented on.
Mabe Materazzi infact had a fling with Zidanes sister and because of the earlier Inzaghi incident Zidane is allergic to his close female family members having sexual relations with Italian football players.
Then add in one of them calling her a whore and he explodes.

Pro football players should be able to control their emotions enough to: Not headbut, kick, hit or in other ways phycicaly try to hurt players. it has cost quite a few matches.
but verbaly or otherwise provoking players to physicaly attack you is indeed abusing the system, and should also be punished in some way, though as Grizlas pointed out it is rather hard to have playback of what players say during the match, even still it's really bad form. so I say hang them all.
