This is a good breakdown on the new discovery that came out, might be the real deal this time. |

Yeah, I've been following this too. Probably another dud, but if true wow..Either way, we should know soon.
*fingers crossed* |

We will know soon it seems, as it would be fairly easy to replicate.
The video that he showed from the experiment wasn't fully levitating, but it was doing something, at room temp/pressure. |

Sabine covered this as well now.

Two preliminary successful replications, Tomshardware reports:

Hopeful, but we've been down this road a few times before, but damn it would be amazing if it actually works, no cooling for any computers, household MRI machines, etc. |

Yes hopeful but skeptical. That tomshardware article isn't particularly great either.
Now I'm reading stuff about LK-99 on the Emdrive subreddit, which is extra concerning. Guy points out that one of the korean papers cites "Navy UFO patents" by one Salvatore Pais - which seems to be correct.
I'm following two bonkers claims at the moment, this and the UFO thing. Now there appears to be some sort of link between the two?. Not sure exactly who this Salvatore Pais is, but on the face of it, it makes both claims less credible:

Surprise, surprise, this wasn’t real. |

Too early to tell sure, some of the world's best labs are working on some interesting research based on this, but that won't be out for another few months. That said, it isn't looking good for room temp/ambient pressure SC (tests at -163 C show it being SC). LK-99 has magnetic properties that are confounding some of the best material scientists, there is a lot of research going into reproducing with less impurities and better structure (not just baking it), and theoretical work claims that doping it might create the real deal (1 and 2), basically that the Koreans blazed a path for new material science, but didn't fully understand what why their material was doing what it was doing. |

Seems to be a bunch of fake news and iron contaminated samples. Oh well...
