I remember seeing it many years ago. And although I was a little bit young, I still found it fascinating. The main character is not likeable and the plot progression is atypical of what you'd expect from an American blockbuster. Part of the reason why I liked the article is that I actually agree with a lot of what the author says - it must have been a huge gamble by Selznick
A funny thing is, that there's an intermission half-way through, where there's a still picture and the Tara-theme plays for about 5 minutes. That's something that's stuck with me.
