ProxMate is a browser extension (Chrome/Firefox) that lets you use Netflix (US version), Pandora, Grooveshark, Hulu, and other sites that otherwise have geographical blocks/limitations. It also gets around most such YouTube restrictions. No configuration necessary, just install the extension and fuggedaboutit.

(It is browser only, but they have a DNS service which makes it work independent of the browser, e.g. on devices like your smartphone. However, the DNS service is in Alpha stage, and requires a donation.)

Looks very interesting. Does it also have the unfortunate sideeffect of disrupting services that use the IP as part of security?
Vuzman on November 29 2013 09:39:08
It shouldn't. It only works for the specific services listed, and it works by routing the initial requests through a proxy, so as to make you appear to be in the US, then the rest of the requests (usually streaming), which is not checked, is routed directly to you. This means that you won't experience lag due to a proxy, but it also means that it is limited to specific services.
(This is my qualified guess, based on the info on the site)

I use Hola, makes the same thing i guess

It's a bit different, in that it uses VPN and peer caching, and also is adware, but if it does the job, it's all good. It could be worth while to install the other extension, in case one isn't working.

You may have noticed that some extensions no longer work in Chrome (all extensions that aren't from the Google store). They have been disabled, and you cannot enable them again.

A work-around to get these extensions working again, if you have the .crx-file or can download it again:
Open Tools -> Extensions
Remove the disabled extension by clicking on the trashcan
Restart chrome
Open Tools -> Extensions
Enable developer mode, if you haven't already (checkbox at the top)
Drag the .crx-file onto the page

The extension is now enabled, and will work until the next restart.
