He's actually referencing the Imperial Nautical Mile AKA Admiralty Mile (6,080 feet = 1,853.184 m), which is not used anymore, and not the International Nautical Mile (1852 m ~ 6076 feet), which is a non-SI unit although accepted for SI use.
