Wow.
I tried to search for a few names and although they were relatively obscure, the searches produced hits (thumbs up!)
However, most of the songs that were recommended were not available on grooveshark, so hopefully the system will try to incorporate other music services later on.
Also, I'm a bit surprised/disappointed by the music on offer at times... e.g. try searching for Blind Guardian.

Good idea, but...
I searched for Kansas, and Carry on wayword son featured 3 times and Dust in the wind 2 times. Not very smrt. |

They claim to find the band's top ten tracks... but what does that mean?
In the case of Kansas there seem to be different versions of the songs (and I think a cover).
In the case of Blind Guardian, however, I really don't see how those songs are chosen, since there are several covers, and I can't work out why the songs chosen should be in the top ten.
In the case of Hogni (yes he's there too) the choices are not bad, but also here there are multiple instances of the same song.
In the case of Therapy? (one of my favourite bands), the site doesn't list any songs... there are just 10 grooveshark messages that they can't find any songs. |

The service is limited by the limitations of Last.fm and Grooveshark. Some songs are not available on Grooveshark (you can upload them yourself), and some songs on Last.fm's charts are duplicates (they're not, really, they're actually different versions, e.g. one of the Dust in the Wind entries is really an acoustic version).

Well, no. Grooveshark is pretty cool, but it's also a mess. It's top track listing usually isn't the real top tracks of the band. Last.fm turned out more reliable.
The top ten tracks of my favorite band are all from the last album!
That happens when a band releases a new album. People listen a lot to their new tracks and for a few weeks, those tracks are listed as the top ten.
My favorite artist only has one track listed and the following nine are just remixes of the same song!
This is common with one hit wonders. People only listen to his only one famous track leaving the others in the bottom of the charts, far away from the top ten.
Why someone would want to listen only to the top tracks of a band? Those are usually the worst ones!
The main idea of this website is to listen to the top tracks of new bands, which you recently discovered. Then you can decide if you want to buy their albums or forget them. If you use this website to listen to your favorite bands, well, don't complain
