I found it funny and gave it a +, but I think we should put things into perspective.

Although he wasn't the most likeable guy, he was brilliant in his prime. Afterall, he was good enough to play over 600 matches for Man Utd and over 80 games for England.

Football fans often talk about strike partners (e.g. Shearer/Sutton, Cole/Yorke, Henry/Bergkamp) and defensive partnerships (at MU it's especially Bruce/Pallister). However, the partnership Gary Neville had with David Beckham at right-back/right-wing was amazing - sometimes seemingly telepathic. Their overlaps were brilliant, they always covered each other, and they were both able to deliver incredible crosses.

I am happy that he's retiring, since I think he's past his sell-by date. But I don't want recent performances to overshadow what has been a glorious career.

Here's a BBC article published a few days ago:

I found it funny too, and never liked the guy. I don't think that he was more than an average defender always playing people onside, but then again I don't watch a lot of manure smiley

But, even Wenger says he has been the greatest right back in the premierleague, so he probably wasn't all crap. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23920130-arsene-wenger-joins-sir-alex-ferguson-in-saluting-gary-neville.do
