I read an article the other day with various suggestions. They then asked an expert on whether it could work and what the consequences were:

The verdict on using a nuclear detonation was:
A nuclear blast would not fuse the pipe under the cooling effect of water but rather would create a crater and would make it impossible to control the flow.
