Wanted to see him at Roskilde this year, but the planning geniuses put his performance at the same time as Bruce Springsteen smiley

He'll be back in CPH later this year though.

Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Sting & Phil Collins- Money for Nothing (Live Montserrat)

As someone posted on youtube...
You know your band is bad ass when you have Clapton playing rhythm and Sting singing backup!

RIP Dave Brubeck
He passed away yesterday. He would have turned 92 today.

Ok how about some rock with Whitesnake. Forevermore is a track of the 2011 album with the same name. A great song and on his good day David Coverdale is amazing. His low register has become really good over the years, and his high register is goosebumpy at times. Oh and he's 62 years old. He and Dio are like good wine.

In fact he sounds almost too good. I have my doubts if this really is a live recording.

He's surprisingly good live, but his voice is clearly not what it used to be. This recording is obviously from a soundboard, and probably had touch-ups done later. This is normal for live recordings, and David could have spared his voice in the days before the concert, and tried to give his very best on the day, knowing that it was recorded. But yeah, could well be overdubbed.

For comparison, here's the same song, recorded on a phone, at the concert I attended in Vega a couple years back: Forevermore - WHITESNAKE [VEGA, COPENHAGEN 22 NOV 2011]. Compare his singing in the third verse (~3:55 in this video, ~1:55 in your video).

Listening back to some of his older stuff his voice was better then, but I still think that his voice has aged gracefully.

That Vega performance isn't bad but not at all as good as the other one. Also he is not helped by his backing singers singing out of tune. Even the guitar performance is drastically different in the Vega version. There is definately some tinkering going on in the Made in Britain version, but maybe that is the standard these days.

Sounds like playback to me, but it is a great song.

I don't think it's playback, why would they use playback when they can play it like that live?

I don't know, maybe it isn't playback - I'll take your word for it. I did some googling and there seems to be some discussion about whether it's playback or not, some refer to a missing "bækkenslag" at 3:07? http://gaffa.dk/nyhed/91249. It just sounded to me like there were two guitars and a base, but I only saw one guitar and base on stage. Maybe that base guitar is some sort of hybrid. Anyhow, if it sounds like that live, then it can't be playback. Tim is a great guitar player - maybe he just sounds like two guitars! smiley

A sad follow-up to the previous post, as another of the 90s grunge/alt rock greats, Chric Cornell, died yesterday, aged 52.
