Kings of Chaos (Joe Elliot, Steve Stevens, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum) - Never Before (Deep Purple cover)

Another supergroup that went below my radar; Screamy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony (Van Halen), and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Chickenfoot - Oh Yeah

The best of Chickenfoot

Chickenfoot seems like a band worth checking out. I really like their sound/groove.

Kings of Chaos, however..... although I'm not really a fan of the bandmembers, I was surprised at how boring and half-assed that version of Never Before sounds. And the guitar-playing is just plain awful.
Someone posted a link with Kings of Chaos a few days ago. Where did that go?

What do people think of Re-Machined? Is it any good?
I've heard 3 songs sofar:
Kings of Chaos - crap
Iron Maiden - meh (Allthough I'm a huge maiden fan, I think Iron Maiden with Bruce Dickinson's vocals doesn't work for that track. They should have gone for a different song)
Joe Bonamassa - If anyone should cover "Lazy", he's the perfect choice.

They do have a nice sound, but Sammy Hagar can only scream, and that gets tiresome after a while. Also, no one in the group has any particular songwriting skills, so all their songs are kinda boring and generic.

Actually thought it was ok, but yeah, kinda boring.

That would be me. Sorry about that: Kings of Chaos

1. Smoke On The Water - Carlos Santana / Jacoby Shaddix
Santana is Santana. Nice cover, but nothing special.

2. Highway Star - Chickenfoot
Live version. Satriani does the keyboard solo on the guitar. Interesting.

3. Maybe I'm A Leo - Glenn Hughes/Chad Smith
Funky.

4. Pictures of Home - Black Label Society
Ok. Kinda boring.

5. Never Before - Kings of Chaos
Ok. Kinda boring.

6. Smoke On The Water - The Flaming Lips
What the fucking fuck?!

7. Lazy - Jimmy Barnes with Joe Bonamassa
Very nice. The best cover on the album.

8. Space Truckin' - Iron Maiden
Meh. Bruce sounds like he has a throat infection.

9. When A Blind Man Cries - Metallica
Very nice, however, the song is three minutes old before you realize Metallica is playing it.

10. Highway Star - Steve Vai, Glenn Hughes, Chad Smith, Lauchlan Doley
Very nice.

Overall verdict: Kinda boring, soon to be forgotten.

Here's something you don't see every day: An openly gay, black R&B artist who writes his own music and writes deep lyrics. Oh, and it's an awesome song.

Hear this song used as the soundtrack for a Roskilde video, quite good IMO.

Jason Newsted has a new band and just released their first EP. It's pretty interesting, like the bastard child of Megadeth and Motörhead....

From Joe Bonamassa's "new" album.

To get this thread a bit more interesting I'm going to guess who of you will like this song.

Norlander will like it.

Vuz, Spiff and Griz are maybe's.

Laluu and Torellion won't like it.

The rest of you, I have no idea.

I like it.

I don't know much of Joe Bonamassa's music, but so far I've liked or loved pretty much all of it. This goes back several years since I found one of his songs on a compilation CD from a magazine.

Agree, haven't heard that much, but I generaly like it.

Don't know about that, but I just think that this thread lacks feedback of people's posts. That includes me.

I like it.

I find it hard to get into Bonamassa's music, particularly because he releases new music about as often as a battery cage hen lays an egg. I have no clue where to start, and I assume he rushes every step of the creative process.

PS: If you guys are wondering why I'm always editing your posts, it's because you don't write what song it is(!)

Why assume that he rushes? He might just be a man of the moment and do stuff on take 1,2 or 3. Some records are made in days, some in years.

PS: You can start with "Driving towards the daylight"

I'm well aware that I may be wrong; hence the stipulation that it is an assumption.

On the other hand, even if he doesn't rush, I still think he should curate his stuff more. All those songs did not have to be made and released. And maybe if he'd made three or four albums, instead of 11 (!! not even counting the 6 live albums), just maybe those would be great albums; fondly to be remembered as classics decades from now.

This is actually my issue with all hyper-productive artists, and I think you'll find that, almost without exception, this holds true: The more productive an artist is, the smaller are the chances that their albums become classics.

Well you don't need to listen to all those songs. And yes maybe he could have made one great album and put all the shitty songs on the other albums, who knows. Music is generally shit nowadays. What's the newest classic album you've heard? A bit of a stupid question I know, they need some time to get classic, but I don't think that there is even a potential classic album out there.

Well have you heard about this hyper productive J.S. Bach guy, all his songs are classic, true story smiley

I don't care if artists are hyper-productive or counter-productive, whatever. Sure it would be nice to hear a great album now and then, but nowadays I'm happy just to hear something that I like.

I don't know, I'm going to say some names, not all favorites of mine, but I think we'll find a new classic among some of these artists' albums: Radiohead, Coldplay, Amy Winehouse, Kanye West, Jay-Z, The White Stripes, The Streets, Daft Punk, Bon Iver...

Yeah, but how many can name one of his albums? Everyone just got the Greatest Hits album... smiley

Amy Winehouse's album Back to Black is certainly going to be a future classic, a pile of good songs and the whole 27 curse thing on top.

Ok, I'll have to admit that I didn't think about some of those as classic albums. But compare those to AC/DC, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Deep Purple, Def Leppard and so on and so forth. They were more frequent and better.

bwt, have you heard Kanye West sing, it's horrible.
