very interesting map. Note the 1992 green smiley found this comment on digg also that cracked me up:

First time noticing how ridiculous the map of the US looks. It's like whoever designed the borders of the states started out in the east and then was like "man, fuck this shit" and then just drew some rectangles to define the western states.

That's a nice one. It's quite red all the time because of the rural vote going republican (rural counties are...big surprise...bigger area wise).

And yeah it's noticably green when Ross Perot had his swing at it. If he didn't look like a character from a Mel Brooks movie he'd prolly have managed to win.
