I am thinking about buying a new laptop. Something along the lines of this:

If someone has some experience with the newest laptop hardware I would appreciate oppinions and advice.

sorry, know nothing about laptops, just thought I'd give my support. Besides you have no use for a laptop since it will not provide a solution to your only current computer problem - how to run Vanguard:Saga of Heroes fluently.

Oh I belive this one will, but I am open to suggestions.
On a side note: I was planning to upgrade way before Vanguard became an issue.

If mobility isn't a huge issue, and judging from your first suggestion it isn't then I'd suggest this acer laptop: http://www.edbpriser.dk/Products/Listprices.asp?ID=247879
You could also go the easy way with Dell:

I'm mostly an Acer fan myself, having owned both a Dell and an Acer laptop, I concider the Acer of far superiour build quality. You should see if there isn't an Acer showroom in Torshavn somewhere and then go check em out.
One thing you need is 1gb+ of ram, as you will in due time run Windows Vista (in the end they'll find a way to force it upon us) and takes up more then 512mb of ram all by itself.

Buy buy buy...though I fail to understand the subwoofer comment in that spec quote....batteries don't normally include a subwoofer

I just bought a zepto znote 2425w It's exactly the same as the amilio (except it isn't it's a zepto) except for the hard drive which i have chosen a bit smaller, and my screen is 15" instead of 17", and mine weighs about 1400 g less. Got mine for 10500 dkr, with a mouse, a backpack and a 500mb memory key.

Well the 17" screen is worth quite a peny in itself. But the Acer I linked to earlier has a 17" screen, a bit smaller harddrive and costs under 10k.
Honestly I'd go for a full keyboard laptop or a really small one, the mix and match doesn't work well for me anymore.

You all have cars anyhow....not much carrying you'll do. You just put the screen down and carry it out into the car, drive to your Lan party and set it up.
For people really needing a mobile computer (instead of a home-entertainment system that can be brought to a friends house without too much hassle...i.e. todays fullsize laptops) both the 17 and the 15" are far too big. Weight down under 2 kilos is a must and preferably less then 1500grams. This is especially aparent when you want to travel with carry-on luggage alone. This leaves you with the business end 12 and 14" laptops (that often start at 12-15000kr).
So again I'll put the arguement from before:

And yes a 19 or 21" laptop would be nice too, probably just alot more costly:p

Well if we have cars, we might as well just buy a stationary computer. Those 19 and 21 " are absolutely horrendous IMO, but anyway it's not up to me. Also, I guess it depends on what you want to use it for.

@OKJones I've had the Znote 6515WD (with modifications) for a year now and I'm quite pleased. Ok there is always something that could be better like the touchpad its just useless but then again I use a mouse. 15.4" screen is okish but 17" would be nice. And the keyboard layout... I've seen better. But all in all its 8 out of 10.

My touchpad isn't the best that i've tried, it's kind of robotic, but otherwise i'm very happy with what i've got. The crystal clear screen is very nice, I know some people don't like it, but it gives a much better picture. Personally I think 17" laptops are too big. Was thinking about buying the 6615WD, but there wasn't too much of a difference between the two, so I went for the 2425W as it was a bit cheaper. Have to agree with you on the keyboard, but it isn't an issue once you get the hang of it.

Agree, but for some people it is. They mention the touchpad in every review of a notebook. Touchpads are for emergency use only. It's like reviewing how good or bad a spare tire on a car is, quite pointless.
