Things Americans believe that drive Brits nuts...
1.First the American revolution...It was Brits vs Brits with a few Germans thrown in. We beat ourselves... The atheist Thomas Paine was proudly English and thus spent most of the American revolution drunk in the gutters of London dependent upon the kindness of Benjamin Franklin to bail him out of jail and to pay his debtors..
2.You never saved our asses during WW2. We saved yours! When 71% of America was cowardly supporting the appeaser and nazi Lindbergh in order to keep out of the war, we were fighting the Battle of Britain. The RAF inflicted such damage on the Luftwaffe that Hitler averted his eyes to the Soviet Union. If we had lost and had been invaded, the US would have had Germany on its right flank and Japan on its left. The US would have have been forced to sue for peace. But invasion would have been inevitable....
However, we could never have defeated Hitler without the US but neither could the US either without fortress Britain as its launch platform.
3. Baseball and basketball originate from English girls games and American football is rugby played with a note from Mummy (why else where a helmet?).
4. The American government condoned the wholesale murder of British and Irish women and children by allowing Irish Americans to sponsor the IRA. So next time you condemn the Saudis for sponsoring terror, try to remember Eniskillen.
5. You don't have more freedom than we Europeans have. In the 1950's we allowed people to have views that were Communistic, because we believed in freedom of thought. You had Joe McCarthy.
6. In the UK at least our black communities are integrated naturally and don't have the racial issues in education and commerce that their brotrhers and sisters in the US do. We have problems with individual racists like everywhere, but racial mixing, intermarriage and realistic aspiration are 50 years ahead.
But in America's defence. We are old. We are not federalised and never had slavery on our shores. We didn't escape from tyranny and take the old world hatreds with us. We stayed and worked through some of them.
7. We are not God fearing. But neither do we mythologise our heroes. We still see them as flawed and human.
Our government can only pull the wool over our eyes for the shortest time. Because when we march against an unjust war, more than a million take to the streets.
8. We did not blame the Irish residents of our country or the Pakistani community when there were bomb outrages in London. These are our neighbours. This cannot be said in post 911 America.
9. When 23 children were murdered in Dunblain, we banned all sporting guns overnight and said "Never again". After Columbine nothing happened.

Got this one in an email today...seems to be lifted off an imdb board but good none the less.
