Me, Vester and Lazarus have all the same problem, there are only so many good shows out there.
We have seen the best of the crop, and in frustration we search for anything worth watching. Alias, Dark Angel, Six Feet Under and God forbid ... Gilmore Girls.
If you have seen some of the new shows that are airing and have found a hidden gem, please share your findings.
Heard rumours about "24" that it should be quite good. It is in "real time" which to me sounds painfully dull, but that's the cool thing they say. Have not seen it myself.
I've seen 1st season of 24. It was insanely exiting. They follow quite a few people and cut between them, so there is never a dull moment even though it runs in real time.
I started watching the 2nd season, but I never got that far. Think I'll give it a shot again.
If you want a great show, see "Arrested Development". A very unique show, and really funny. You need to see this show.
Also worth seeing is "Prison Break" (you didn't mention it, so I did), and "My Name is Earl".
"Rome" has gotten good reviews, but I haven't seen it yet.
For some great british comedy (you know they make the best comedy shows), see "The Office" (the original UK series is the best, but the US series is quite funny), "Coupling", and of course the funniest show ever: "Black Books".
"24" has run five seasons already, and although the premise is basically the same, they manage to make all the seasons exciting. The best part is probably that they don't follow conventional TV series rules, which means that anything can, and will, happen. I did think that the fifth season was pushing it a bit, but it was entertaining all the same. The sixth season will follow a different formula, although the format (real time) will be the same.
Just noticed that no one has mentioned "Scrubs" yet. You gotta check that out, funniest mainstream comedy on TV today.
For some 'home-made' TV, check out "The Scene", about the people behind the movies you download. It has a novel format, and the writers know what the hell they're writing about (unlike most Hollywood writers). Season 2 has started, but I recommend starting with season 1: http://www.welcometothescene.info/download.php?ep=1. A lot of cool music too.
