Sri Lanka smiley

Sri in sankrit or something means wealth or in this case gold . And Lanca in portugeuse means spear.

Why would I want to end every post the same way?

Taking the bait...

No the reason why I don't speed answer these questions anymore is that it just brings up the need to pose new questions and then new answers and after 97 pages of this I'm starting to just don't give a frak. It's fun to look at it sometimes, but I dislike the whole "why doesn't anyone answer this question, come on answer, ok new easier question instead, please answer so you can post a new question" way that this thread is at certain times smiley

Well, what I said is correct, you're refering to a different island then, ok.

My sankrit and portugeuse are a little rusty, but I have no doubt that what you stated is true; - its just not the island the clues are pointing to smiley

speaking of clues:

1: I've discovered a small error of mine: the number 82 is supposed to be 92 - the island is perfectly guessable without the numbers though.

2: Some more pictures that should help you see what you're missing:

I think that it is somewhat sad, that this, our (by far) most active thread, has died, so I am going to make an attempt at reviving it in a new way.

I propose, that instead of the previous "You answered, so you have to ask the new question" way, that most people apparently have gotten bored with, we make it into a quiz, where people get points for correct answers, with diminished scores the more "clues" are given. If this proves popular, then I can strain to uphold the (apparently) tedious task of posting new questions and keeping scores.

So, to try to kick it off for a double-point score:

What does this painting portray, and who painted it?

[NOTE: Question has been moved here for future reference]

Well I returned to your question at long last, and think I need some more hintssmiley

Best I can come up with right now is either Sumatra or Borneo. Both Islands have the meaning Land of Gold, though where Lance Armstrong or the spears and numbers come in to this I don't knowsmiley

One of your assumptions is wrong.

Ok, so we have gold bars, 4 different types of lances/spears, Lance Armstrong, and a statue of a Khmer goddess and the numbers 32 11 92 75 23.

Sadly the Khmer art form belongs to Laos and Cambodia, both landlocked countries.

This leaves us with what exactly?

Laluu jokingly said that it could be Lance + lot (of gold), and pointing to Avalon (Isle of Apples), Torellion was thinking about Lance and Red gold, becoming Lancarote. I'm partial to it being something silly like Phú Quốc, Socotra, Hainan or Cozumel.

In short: Give a better cluesmiley

Well, firstly you should keep in mind that the two second pictures are hints to what you are missing about my original ask. The numbers are a simple code that should give you another clue. The name of the picture is a clue aswell.

Put it all, or some of it together in google and you should eventually come up with an island. Good luck smiley

When I saw the numbers I was thinking about the island in LOST, but the numbers are wrong.

Lance Armstron - Tour de France, maybe it's some french connection.

I just ran this thing past Marika, and she says she can understand why nobody has guessed this yet. Maybe its too hard, but it didn't seem like it at the time. Still, you're smart people. You should be able to figure this out.

And yeah, the name is a clue and this be no treasure island, even if it might be a dangerous place AARRR! smiley

Norlander wanted me to give the answer to this thing, So I will. It has been long enough.

The answer is Ilha_da_Queimada_Grande aka. "snake island"
The pictures where intended to give you "golden lancehead" a species of viper only found on this island (read more). and video

The filename of the picture is made up of the UTM coordinates for the island, and the numbers in the picture are simple code for snake (each number referring to a word number x, letter number y in the original post) - hence the weird wording.

The second clue was meant to show you what you were missing, i.e. lance + head.

If you think this was stupid and impossible to guess, then I'm sorry.
