This odd island is located at the French Frigate Shoals. The islands name is Tern Island... somewhere near Hawaii and Midway Atoll.

That was a very good question vuzman. I had to ask fellow military air force nuts to solve it. I was thinking Johnston Atoll for quite a while but couldn't make it fit.
