I will be the friendly soul to help a fellow out.
Nasa has 5 spaceshuttles, whereof 2 exist no more.
I'd like you to rate them according to total kilometres travelled and which one has the most number of missions ?
Boring, I know, but it will kick thing back into motion

Well finally have the time to go check the relevant wikipedia article.
The data is as of August 2007. Discovery has the most number of flights. A title it will retain forever by current retirement plans.
By km the list is Columbia, Discovery, Atlantis, Endeavour and Challenger.
Up to date data on Discovery shows it has traveled 195,938,294 km and done 35 missions. So the ranking is unchanged.

New question:
Name the two songs.
Hint 1: These two songs spent back-to-back weeks as #1 of the Billboard charts.
Hint 2: The first song is the only US number one hit for this band.
Hint 3: The second song is the only US number one hit for this artist.
Hint 4: The artist (song #2) used to be the lead singer of the band (song#1).

My guess would be The Police's "Every breath you take" and Sting's "All for Love"

The Police was in 1983 and All for Love in 1994? Not quite back to back weeks. Keep searching

I believe I've never heard (at least consiously) 2 of the songs.

Ok... I'll pitch in with my initial thoughts
1. Megadeth, "Skin o' My Teeth"
2. No idea
3. I first thought of AC/DC, but then it sounded a bit like "Panama" by Van Halen
4. Skunk Anansie, "Twisted (Everyday Hurts)"
5. Sounds like Iron Maiden, but can't place the song. (yet)
I'll have a listen to a few intros in my collection to verify a few suspicions when I have the time.
What do the rest of you think? Do you recognise them all?

Well, I had the two songs you got, so not much of a help...
#2 sounds like MJ's Dirty Diana, although it isn't.
#3 is what "Walk This Way" would sound like if AC/DC and Van Halen had done it... I say someone listen to their Van Halen records and figures this out (don't have my music here)
#5 I wouldn't say Iron Maiden. The guitar that starts at 1:40 sounds very familiar...

You're right. Still don't think it sounds like Maiden. Don't remember that song, probably because it's not very good... the intro and outro are really good, but the middle, not so much. The intro and outro don't seem to belong to the rest of the song at all?!
Anyway, #2 and #3, anyone?

#1 Correct
# 2 not much to go on there but he starts to sing right after it's cut so that would be a dead give away.
#3 You are not burning yourselves
#4 Correct
#5 Correct and Vuzman's comments are also correct

@#3 Hint: The band singers first name resembles a card game. The singer is also known for his solo carrier.
@#2 Hint: Two of the band members are brothers, one of them is playing drums the other guitar.
