I'm with you. The others I knew instantaneously but #2... no freaking clue, and been thinking about it for an hour.

1. CCR - Bad moon rising
2. Dio - Dream evil
3. Elvis - Suspicious minds
4. Def Leppard - Love bites (somehow I always forget their songs... shite perhaps?)
5. Lips Inc - Funkytown

Alright should be easy. What do these people have in common (can you even say that?).

Janis Lyn Joplin
James Douglas Morrison
Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones
Johnny Allen Hendrix
Kurt Donald Cobain

And the answer isn't music nor drugs...

They're all musicians and they all did drugs and all are believed to have died from it (and a bullet). And they all have middle names and surnames and so on...

Solve the crossword puzzle. Post either a new version of the puzzle with your solution, or a numbered list.

Hint: Some of the solutions may appear twice (not with the same clue though).
I put in a few easy ones.

Talk to me guys, is it too hard, have you got anything?

More hints: Some of the clues should include the word "Originally", as the clue might refer to the time the city was founded.
Spaces are omitted; i.e. New York City would become newyorkcity and consist of 11 boxes in the puzzle.

I'm surprised nobody has made this yet. Seems like a really good ask by the vuzman. I myself gave it a try a while back but stranded on number two. You sure that you spelled that one correctly? I can't make it fit into the puzzle.

EDIT:

hmm, strike that..nothing seems to fit into anything, meaning there must be some sort of encryption going on..

Well, given the criteria that
Some of the solutions may appear twice (not with the same clue though)
, then I can't make it work. Have tried, but stranded on that part. Are they all current or are 'used-to-be' also a factor?

Uhm... whoops?

Yes, number 2 doesn't quite fit. There should one box, i.e. 9 boxes instead of 8. This has no impact on the rest of the puzzle though, the letters number 2 has in common with 1, 6, and 8 are correctly aligned (i.e. the error happens in one of the last three letters of the capital; there's an somewhat obvious reason for this).

See my second hint post. Yes, the conditions the city was built on might not exist anymore, or have changed. New York City was built on an island (Manhattan), but has today sprawled over two other islands (Long and Staten) and onto the Mainland (Bronx).

A further hint might be that I have not used any obscure capitals, and I have not used the official names; I have used the English names (which we probably are more familiar with, and better fits with the clues).
